RiAnn Maltese - Quality Maltese from Champion Lines
About Us
The picture blow is "Izzy" winning best puppy at seven months of age.

We have always had dogs in our life.  For many years I had Toy Poodles and Dick didn't think a dog was a dog unless it was the likes of a German Shepard.  Then I got Angel,a Yorkshire Terrior, and he became smitten with her.  She quickly went from being my dog to his, and he was very happy to have a dog that could sit on his lap.  She was a joy to both of us for many years.

In 1991, I was in a pet store and saw a Maltese on the cover of a Magazine.  I had never seen one before.  Through another customer in the store I found a local breeder and contacted her for Maltese puppies available.

When I entered her kennel office, she put this little ball of cotton in my arms and he put his paws up around my neck and actually hugged me.  As you can imagine, he went home with me.  Captain became my soulmate, went everywhere with me and was the love of my life.  Although Captain was not a show dog, he was a very good example of the Maltese Breed.  Tragically,  I lost him at the young age of eight to a Collapsed Trachea.

Next,we got two puppies.  Unfortunately, neither turned out to be a very good representatives of the Maltese Breed.  We still have them, and they are good pets, but I longed for a really pretty Maltese like my Captain had been.

One day, I was playing on the internet and ran across a very beautiful  Maltese website.  I filled out the questionaire and the breeder called me back.  She had beautiful dogs and seemed like a  reliable breeder, so I made arrangements to get one of her Maltese Puppies if it was OK with Dick.  He agreed, so I sent a deposit on my new little boy, who was only eight weeks old at the time.  He arrived right after Christmas, and is a very beautiful, loving boy.

I had always wanted to try my hand at showing, but no one would sell me a dog to show myself.  Every breeder I talked to wanted me to have the dog sent to a handler, and wouldn't even discuss me doing it myself.  After a few months, I talked the breeder into letting me show my Nico.  We did OK, but due to an injury his show career ended. My next show baby is my little girl "Izzy"  who is pointed and on her way to her Championship.  Now I also have my Gracie, who is Izzy's daughter.  She won her first Best of Breed at ten months old, so even though the competition here in California is difficult I think she will do very well.

We have had five beautiful litters so far, and will be having more in the near future.  Izzy is pointed and my Pato only needs one more major and he'll be a Champion.  The beautiful boy that he is, he should be finished within the next few months.  Gracie is also well on her way.

I would like to thank Jeanne Haley of Rijes Maltese for all the grooming and showing tips and for sharing little Riley with us and Christine Ngan of Pristine Maltese for sharing Max with us.  Thank you.  You are indeed wonderful friends.

We are just starting, but are on our way.  Please come back and visit often as we will be adding much more information as we go along.
